After Your Treatment: What's Normal, What to Do, What to Avoid

The most common post-treatment phone call is: “I’m seeing MORE bugs than before — did it fail?” Almost always, no — flushed-out and bait-affected pests become visible as the treatment works. Here’s the timeline for every service, and the real signs that something needs a callback.

Re-entry and the first 24 hours

Follow the timing your technician gave you — typically around 4 hours for interior treatments, less for exterior, longer only if they said so. Once products are dry they’re safe for your family and pets. Ventilate if you like; it’s preference, not requirement.

What’s normal, by service

Ants: MORE ants for 3–10 days is the bait working — foragers carry it to the colony. Declines follow, with full knockdown in 2–3 weeks. Carpenter ants can take longer as satellite nests collapse.

Cockroaches: increased daytime sightings for up to a week as harborage empties, then steady decline over 2–4 weeks. Finding dead roaches is exactly the result — sweep them up (that part of cleaning is fine).

Bed bugs: activity for 7–14 days is expected — keep sleeping in the treated room so they cross treated surfaces. Your follow-up visit timing was set by your technician; it matters, keep it.

Mice: sounds and sightings taper over 1–3 weeks. Silence, then a brief return of noise, then silence is a normal pattern. Don’t move any equipment we placed.

Wasps: stray foragers return to the removed nest site for 2–3 days, then disperse. Don’t seal wall or soffit entry gaps until your technician says the traffic has fully stopped.

The cleaning rules

For two weeks after interior treatment: don’t wash baseboards, don’t wipe along wall-floor edges, don’t deep-clean inside treated cabinets, and don’t remove any bait placement or station. Normal floor cleaning in the middle of rooms, dishes, counters — all fine. You’re preserving the working product where pests travel.

When to actually call us

Call if: activity is the same or worse after the timelines above; you see pests in a NEW area of the home; you find a placement damaged or moved by kids or pets; or anything just seems off. That’s what the guarantee is for — covered callbacks cost nothing, and we’d rather return once early than have you wait it out. (705) 302-1887, call or text.
