How to Prepare for Wildlife Removal (Raccoons, Squirrels, Skunks)

The golden rule: do not seal anything. If you block the entry while an animal — or its babies — is inside, you create a desperate animal tearing new holes, or a dead one in your wall or attic. Removal first, exclusion after. Always in that order.

Before we arrive

Observe, don’t intervene. Note where you see the animal entering and leaving, and at what times (squirrels: dawn/dusk; raccoons: night). Listen for vocal sounds — chittering in spring or early summer usually means babies, which changes our approach to a humane family-reunion protocol rather than simple eviction.

Clear attic access. If the activity is in the attic, clear a path to the attic hatch and move stored items away from the suspected area. In the yard, unlock gates and note any deck, shed or addition the animal may be denning under.

Pets and food. Keep pet food indoors starting now — outdoor bowls are a wildlife buffet. Keep pets away from the den area; a cornered raccoon or a spraying skunk is a vet bill.

What we do

Humane removal, then the part that actually keeps your home wildlife-free: sealing the entry point and screening vents, roofline gaps and other access with animal-proof materials. Removal without exclusion is a revolving door — the den site scent advertises a vacancy.

After removal

Don’t be alarmed by a night or two of exterior scratching — evicted animals commonly test their old entry before moving on. If you hear activity INSIDE after we’ve sealed, call immediately: (705) 302-1887. Every job starts with a $95 inspection, credited in full when you book, and the work is guaranteed. See also our wildlife library guides for species-by-species behaviour.
