How to Prepare for Your Mosquito or Tick Yard Treatment
Your prep is half the treatment. A barrier spray protects the yard; standing water breeds mosquitoes faster than any spray can kill them. Ten minutes of dumping and tidying before we arrive meaningfully extends how long your treatment lasts.
Before we arrive
Dump all standing water. Plant saucers, toys, tarps, wheelbarrows, kiddie pools, clogged eavestrough corners, and the classic — the birdbath (refresh it weekly after). Any water that sits five days can produce mosquitoes.
Mow and trim. Cut the grass and trim back overgrown shrubs if you can — mosquitoes rest on the underside of leaves in shaded, humid growth, and ticks quest from tall grass edges. Short vegetation lets the treatment reach where they actually live.
Clear the yard. Put away kids’ toys, pet bowls and toys, and cover or move outdoor furniture cushions and the BBQ. Close windows facing the treatment area.
For tick treatments: note the yard’s edge zones — where lawn meets woods, tall grass, or a ravine. That transition strip is where ticks live, and it gets focused attention.
Day of treatment
Everyone including pets stays off the treated yard until it’s fully dry — typically 30–60 minutes; your technician confirms. Beehives on or near the property? Tell us in advance and we’ll plan around them. We use reduced-risk products applied to label.
After treatment
Expect a noticeable drop within 24–48 hours, with protection typically lasting several weeks per visit ($147/visit). Rain the same day? Call us — timing matters and we’ll make it right.
